A new twist on an old favourite: Vakuum Walker GTX

The new Vakuum Walker is available in both the men’s and women’s ranges, in full and half sizes. This style incorporates Meindl’s Vakuum technologies to provide a personalised fit and superb comfort.

There’s a Memory Foam System throughout the upper and footbed. It uses your body heat to mould your feet and create a customised fit. The compression zone at the back of the boot provides support and comfort – reducing pressure on the Achilles when walking downhill. And the lacing system provides a secure heel fit that removes any heel lift, which could cause discomfort. It all adds up to a great feeling boot.

Following tradition, the Vakuum Walker is constructed by hand using the finest quality waxed nubuck leather. Nubuck gives durability whilst maintaining suppleness. You will also find

A superb all-rounder: Utah GTX

Meindl Utah GTX is a very comfortable leather and fabric boot for use in the hills and lower level tracks and paths. The Meindl rubber grip sole provides excellent shock absorbency and grip on uneven terrain. A GORE-TEX lining means that the boot is waterproof and the lower cut cuff ensures no pressure against the achilles. A superb all round boot.

A welcome addition to the wide fit range: Terlan GTX

Terlan GTX and Terlan Lady GTX join Meindl’s Comfort Fit range of walking boots and shoes, which is suitable for people with wider feet.

The suede and mesh upper mean this is a lightweight yet supportive boot and the addition of a GORE-TEX lining ensures that it’s waterproof and durable in all weather conditions.

The Comfort Fit footbed is made from cork and covered with fleece. It provides a wider surface area at the front of the boot. This combination of materials and shape allows for comfort, support and stability underfoot. And there is more room for your toes.

Terlan GTX and Terlan Lady GTX also boast a Meindl Multigrip sole. Made by Vibram, it has an EVA shock absorber that reduces impact and gives plenty of cushioning.

Care tips

Sportwax is a natural product that’s formulated to condition and proof leather. It’s ideal for all of the boots highlighted in this article.

Simply apply it with a sponge or cloth – don’t forget the tongues of the boots.

Rub the wax in well.

There’s no need to heat it, as this could reduce boot breathability.

Waxing changes the appearance of the leather, making it smoother and darker.

Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets also protects them against corrosion.

Looking ahead to warmer days: Hawaii

Hawaii is a unisex walking sandal that benefits from the family’s 300 years of experience in creating durable and comfortable footwear. The Air Active footbed is the same as that used in Meindl shoes – it can be removed and replaced with a personal orthotic, one of the few sandals on the market with this feature.
