Product Description
The Meindl Portland GTX walking shoe is part of the Trail Activity range and is an excellent choice for everyday wear and light hiking on easier terrain. Holding your heel firmly in place, the Portland GTX gives excellent support on uneven terrain and when hill-walking.
The uppers are made from suede and mesh with a GORE-TEX membrane lining, ensuring the Portland GTX is extremely breathable, lightweight and hard wearing.
The shoe is kept well ventilated and dry in all conditions thanks to the Air-Active footbed that efficiently drains away any unwanted moisture.
A Meindl Contagrip Trail sole is the finishing touch providing the wearer with a strong grip on a variety of terrain. For a truly comfortable, multi-functional shoe, the Portland GTX is the perfect choice.
Meindl Fitting Advice
Meindl is generally a wide-fitting brand, with our Comfort Fit range offering even more space for those who need it.
However, achieving the right fit is not just about length. The shape, width and overall volume of the boot must match your foot. The widest part of your foot should align with the widest part of the boot. If you feel the boot tapers too quickly at the front, you may benefit from a style with a rounder, more generous toe box.
A well-fitting boot should feel secure around the heel and midfoot, with enough room at the front for your toes to move freely without touching the end—particularly when walking downhill.
It’s also important to avoid excess volume in the upper. Too much space can lead to movement within the boot, causing creasing, reduced support, and discomfort over time.
For best results, try boots on with your usual walking socks and ensure they feel comfortable both standing and moving, as fit can change during use.

Care Advice
Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The shoes can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion.
