Product Description
The Meindl Rapide GTX wide fit shoe is part of the Comfort-Fit Wellness Sport range, offering a wider fit than other styles alongside a superbly cushioned footbed.
Constructed from lightweight suede leather and mesh uppers the Rapide GTX walking shoe is durable yet supple. The addition of a GORE-TEX lining ensures it has waterproof protection keeping your feet dry in all circumstances and an Air Active footbed aids the ventilation of fresh air into the shoe. The Comfort-Fit of the Rapide GTX means that the shoe is wider at the front, giving extra room for movement particularly at the foot’s flex point. It does so whilst remaining secure at the heel ensuring a sturdy and supportive fit.
Equipped with a Meindl Comfort Sport sole the Rapide GTX has excellent grip on a variety of surfaces, an easy roll for maximum comfort and a sharp edged heel to help when hill-walking. The Rapide GTX is the ideal walking shoe for everyday wear and leisurely walks in the country.
Meindl Fitting Advice
Meindl is generally a wide-fitting brand, with our Comfort Fit range offering even more space for those who need it.
However, achieving the right fit is not just about length. The shape, width and overall volume of the boot must match your foot. The widest part of your foot should align with the widest part of the boot. If you feel the boot tapers too quickly at the front, you may benefit from a style with a rounder, more generous toe box.
A well-fitting boot should feel secure around the heel and midfoot, with enough room at the front for your toes to move freely without touching the end—particularly when walking downhill.
It’s also important to avoid excess volume in the upper. Too much space can lead to movement within the boot, causing creasing, reduced support, and discomfort over time.
For best results, try boots on with your usual walking socks and ensure they feel comfortable both standing and moving, as fit can change during use.

5 Stars: This is my third pair of Meindl Rapides
This is my third pair of Meindl Rapides…so Meindl must be doing something right. They are supremely comfortable straight out of the box and don’t need any wearing in. I wear them all day and every day.
5 Stars: Meindl Comfort – the best shoes for extra wide feet
This is my second pair of Meindl Rapide shoes, as I wore the first pair out with the many walks that I do. Whilst my feet are only size 8, they are exceptionally wide and Meindl are the only shoes that truly fit. Whether shoes or boots, Meindl Comfort delivers just that for the wide of foot.

Care Advice
Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The boots can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion.
