Product Description
The Tonale GTX walking boot is designed by Meindl as a technical fabric and suede lightweight walking boot. Meindl stand as an internationally respected walking shoe brand, making top quality boots for over 300 years, incorporating a variety of technologies to enhance the performance of their footwear.
The Tonale GTX comprises of a GORE-TEX lining creating an impermeable surface, rendering the boot ideal for all weather conditions. Alongside this, a Variofix lacing system allows you to adjust the laces for the perfect fit and an Air-Active footbed aids ventilation so your feet stay dry at all times. This boot is complete with a Vibram rubber grip sole ensuring a strong grip on a variety of testing terrains and excellent shock absorption to protect your feet. This walking boot is a superb lightweight option at 530g, ideal for light trekking.
Meindl Fitting Advice
Meindl is generally a wide-fitting brand, with our Comfort Fit range offering even more space for those who need it.
However, achieving the right fit is not just about length. The shape, width and overall volume of the boot must match your foot. The widest part of your foot should align with the widest part of the boot. If you feel the boot tapers too quickly at the front, you may benefit from a style with a rounder, more generous toe box.
A well-fitting boot should feel secure around the heel and midfoot, with enough room at the front for your toes to move freely without touching the end—particularly when walking downhill.
It’s also important to avoid excess volume in the upper. Too much space can lead to movement within the boot, causing creasing, reduced support, and discomfort over time.
For best results, try boots on with your usual walking socks and ensure they feel comfortable both standing and moving, as fit can change during use.

Light, good fit. Felt good straight out the box, worn on a 15-mile hike, without any breaking in. Lightweight, if like me coming from a full leather boot, I also own the Meindl Bhutan and was looking for something lighter for a 24 hours event.

Care Advice
Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The boots can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion.
